About Guide Dogs SA/NT

For more than 65 years, Guide Dogs SA/NT has been supporting people living with low vision, blindness and other specialised needs in South Australia and the Northern Territory.

From Adelaide to Darwin, and everywhere in between, our team cares for and supports our clients and their families by providing specialist vision services, funding assistance, and of course, our iconic Guide Dogs.

It takes a significant amount of time, expertise and more than $55,000 to breed, raise and train a Guide Dog, but their impact is priceless.

By working with our clients, their families, carers and medical professionals, Guide Dogs SA/NT fights to ensure everyone in our community can safely, confidently, and independently live the life they want to live.

The journey to become a Guide Dog

Before our puppies can become life-changing Guide Dogs, they undergo extensive training with our expert staff which takes more than two years and costs over $55,000. Your support on Guide Dogs Day will mean we’ll be able to make a priceless impact on more lives by training more Guide Dogs.

Client Emily was matched with her first Guide Dog, Tanner, and it's changed her life! Support Guide Dogs Day to help make these puppies' careers possible.

Lisa and Leo, with Floyd the guide dog

“With Floyd, we can go everywhere we need and do anything we want.”

“My son, Leo has inherited my vision condition. Having Floyd in our lives allows him to grow up with the knowledge that his future is not limited because of his vision.”
