Where it all starts
Woof! Hi Suppawters, it’s Yoshi!
I’m now over one year old and feeling more confident with every paw-step I take. Life is busy and exciting living with my Puppy Raisers and their two kids: there’s always something fun happening!
I am lucky enough to live with my best friend, Kevin, a kelpie cross. Kevin is like my big brother and he deserves a medal for putting up with all my puppy antics. We love going to the local dog park together to meet our friends and enjoy a big zoomy run.
Every day I’m making progress with my training. Recently, I’ve been practising my recall at the dog park. It’s extra tricky because there are so many dogs to greet and smells to investigate, but I’m learning to come back when called even with all those distractions.

It’s been Mad March in Adelaide, which means I’ve been hopping on trains and trams with my Puppy Raisers and practising staying calm in busy crowds. There are so many interesting people and sounds, but I’m learning to stay focused and take it all in stride.
Speaking of learning… my Puppy Raiser says I’m still working on my manners when meeting people. Apparently I can be a little “over the top,” which I think means I’m sometimes too friendly. I’m practising greeting people more politely.

I love going to the beach to watch Nippers. I call it
'Yosh-Watch': sitting in the sunshine on the shore and keeping a close eye on the kids in the water. Tough job, but someone has to do it. I’ve also had some special outings lately. I've attended a couple of school concerts and even sat through a full performance by the Burnside Symphony Orchestra. I think I’m becoming quite cultured!

Soon I’ll be finishing this stage with my Puppy Raiser and heading into Guide Dogs for my next big adventure: formal Guide Dog training. I’m excited and ready for the challenge!
Suppawter, thank you for believing in me and cheering me on. I couldn’t do it without you by my side.
Love and licks,
